Richard founded Leeds Skin Centre for Applied Research Ltd as Managing Director in 2008.
This followed 25 years' working in the Skin Research Centre at the University of Leeds. A microbiologist by training, he has always specialised in Knowledge Transfer interface research in dermatology, focused on the requirements of the pharmaceutical, personal care, cosmetics and hygiene industries. His core expertise is in the interaction of microorganisms with human skin, with wide ranging experience of laboratory methods, human volunteer studies and living skin equivalent (LSE) technologies. He also maintains active research collaborations through honorary positions at the University of Leeds and University of Huddersfield, and close links with the National Blood Service and NHS Trusts.
